His areas of emphasis include real estate, construction disputes, attorney malpractice arising out of both litigation and transactional problems He also serves as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases, focusing on the applicable community standard of care for practicing in the litigation area. He has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and the Superior Court of Los Angeles' Arbitration Panel. Mr. Rolin is the former Chairman of the Law Office Management Section of the Los Angeles County Bar, the Lawyers Professional Liability Bar Association and the Board of Directors for the Legion Lex, University of Southern California. Mr. Rolin began his legal career as an associate and later, partner at Merserve, Mumper & Hughes until 1972. Thereafter, Mr. Rolin was a partner at Haight, Dickson, Brown & Bonesteel until 1988. At the Haight firm, he was the partner in charge of the legal malpractice unit and, during that time, tried between two and three legal malpractice cases per year to verdict. Thereafter, he was the partner in charge of the business litigation and real estate unit of the firm. He then practiced as a principal with Rodi, Pollock, Pettker Galbraith & Phillips until 1996. Mr. Rolin is qualified as an expert witness and has spoken before numerous professional groups concerning trial practice issues. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1965. From 1980 to 1985, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and was Program Chairman in 1983. Mr. Rolin has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates since 1984, and is a past member of the Board of Directors. In 2001, he relocated to Warner Center in Woodland Hills, as a sole practitioner and in 2006 he moved his office to Westlake Village, California. |
